What is Exif Lens?
Exif Lens is an iOS app that lets you view, edit, and remove the metadata embedded in your photos — including dates, GPS locations, camera settings, and more. Everything runs on your device; no data is ever uploaded to a server.
What is EXIF data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data is information recorded alongside a photo at the time it was taken. It typically includes the capture date and time, GPS coordinates, camera make and model, lens information, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and more.
Is my photo data safe?
Yes. Your photos and their metadata are processed entirely on your iPhone and are never uploaded anywhere. The app has no analytics and no tracking. Two things do leave the device when you use them: your subscription status is verified through Apple and RevenueCat, and searching the map or showing a photo's address sends that query or those coordinates to Apple. Never your photos.
Does it work with iCloud Photos?
Yes, but photos stored in iCloud need to be downloaded to your device before metadata can be edited. If a photo is not yet local, Exif Lens will attempt to download it. A stable internet connection may be required for iCloud-only photos.
What does the Pro subscription include?
The free tier lets you view all photo metadata. The Pro subscription ($0.99/month, or $9.99/year) unlocks editing features: changing dates and times, adding or removing GPS locations, editing camera info, setting camera direction, stripping all metadata for privacy, and batch editing multiple photos at once.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Exif Lens offers a free trial for the Pro subscription so you can try all editing features before committing. Trial availability and length are managed by Apple.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple. You can cancel at any time through the App Store: go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Can I edit videos?
Partly. You can change a video's date and location, because the Photos library stores those itself. You cannot edit camera fields on a video, because video files carry no EXIF at all.
Will edits affect the original photo quality?
Metadata edits do not recompress or alter the pixel data of your photos. Your images remain at their original quality after any metadata change.
What iOS version is required?
Exif Lens requires iOS 17 or later.
