FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about Emotion Hub.

What is Emotion Hub?

Emotion Hub is an iOS app for mood tracking and journaling. It lets you log your emotions using a rich taxonomy, add context like location, thoughts, and physical reactions, and then explore analytics to understand your emotional patterns over time. Everything runs on your device — no data is ever uploaded to a server.

What emotions can I track?

Emotion Hub is built around 7 primary emotions: Happy, Angry, Sad, Fearful, Disgusted, Surprised, and Bad. Each primary emotion breaks down into nuanced secondary and tertiary states — so instead of just "sad", you might log "grief", "loneliness", or "despair". This depth helps you name exactly how you feel.

Is my journal private?

Yes. Emotion Hub stores everything locally in SwiftData on your device and syncs via your personal iCloud. We have no servers and never see your data. You can also enable Face ID or a passcode to lock the app.

What is HealthKit integration?

With your permission, Emotion Hub reads data from Apple Health — like sleep duration, resting heart rate, and exercise minutes — and correlates it with your mood logs. This can reveal connections you might not notice otherwise, such as how poor sleep affects your emotional state.

What does Plus include?

The free tier gives you up to 10 emotion entries to try the app. The Plus subscription ($0.99/month) unlocks unlimited entries, the full emotion taxonomy, analytics dashboards, HealthKit correlation, PDF export, and smart reminders.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Emotion Hub offers a free trial for the Plus subscription so you can explore all features before committing. Trial availability and length are managed by Apple.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple. You can cancel at any time through the App Store: go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Plus users can export their emotion journal as a PDF report, useful for personal reflection or sharing with a therapist.

What iOS version is required?

Emotion Hub requires iOS 18.6 or later.

Is Emotion Hub a replacement for therapy?

No. Emotion Hub is a personal journaling and self-awareness tool. It is not a medical device and is not intended as a substitute for professional mental health advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are struggling, please reach out to a qualified mental health professional.
